As a fashion publicist, I worked directly with the editors of such high profile magazines as InStyle, Lucky and Vogue. Time and time again, I would assist staff from all the fashion mags in their shoot styling needs. Every few months editors would proclaim brooches were “in” and I would work with them providing them appropriate jewelry samples to be incorporated into the “looks” they were building. Sometimes the requests were generic ( I.E. “I need brooches, stat”) while other times they were themed to specific categories such as animals, insects, fruits or retro styled.
Even when the “it” trend subsided, I still opted to wear my collection of sparkly accessories as brooches are a timeless way to simply bedazzle any outfit. I’ve always opted to wear the jewelry in unique ways such as wearing them in clusters on a old school denim jacked, wearing them on the closure ties of wrap dresses (a great styling trick to show of a little middle) or simply adorning my winter hat or coat with one. My preference for this bit of jewelry has always been finding something unique and vintage, and thanks to the Ageless Treasure’s boutique on ETSY, I’ve found a great one:
This little gem brooch is pear-rific! The piece is a manageable 2 1/2 inches, the sparkling reds and pinks will add a little splash of color to an otherwise dreary winter ensemble and the piece is vintage, my favorite type of brooch. Plus, at $18 it will be an affordable way to get ahead of the next brooch trend.
